Crawl Space Moisture Control and Mold Remediation Irving, TX

Challenge

The crawlspace was taking in water and creating a tremendous amount of moisture. It caused mold on the wooden beams and the insulation was completely soaked ineffective. These Irving homeowners were dealing with an odor coming from the crawl space that was making the family uncomfortable, and there was no energy efficiency because of the soggy insulation. They knew they needed to call someone to get the water out and eliminate the mold to keep this from happening again.

Solution

Olympic Restoration came in and knew that the mold needed to be remediated and the crawl space needed to be sealed off. The work started inside of the home. We installed 2 air scrubbers that ran for an initial 24 hour period and then it was left on during the remediation process. We cleaned the affected wood framing around the 2 toilet drain areas in the crawlspace with an EPA registered antimicrobial solution. The process also called for us to scrub the affected wood. The surface was then sealed with an anti-microbial coating.

In the crawlspace itself, we ran smart pipe and installed a smart sump pump. To help with moisture control and water a drainage matting was installed. Then, we regraded the area to direct water seepage to the sump pump system. Once completed the home was mold free and the crawlspace water and moisture problem was solved.
