Crawl Space Remediation in Wylie, TX
Challenge
This customer was referred to us by a family member who had their crawl space encapsulated by Olympic Restoration Systems. He was concerned that there was a moisture problem in his crawl space, and wanted to have someone come for a crawl space inspection. We sent one of our System Designs Specialists, Ross, to the property for a free crawl space estimate. After inspecting the crawl space, Ross found evidence of moisture issues in the crawl space. Ross presented the homeowner with a solution to rid the crawl space of moisture, and keep moisture from coming back. The homeowner accepted the proposal and proceeded with a crawl space encapsulation from Olympic Restoration Systems.
Solution
The production team started by removing debris from the crawl space and regrading the soil. This keeps water from pooling in low points of the crawl space floor. They sloped the soil so that water would flow to the sump pump. Next, they placed a SmartSump to drain water away from the crawl space. They then placed drainage matting underneath a CleanSpace vapor barrier on the crawl space floor to isolate the home from the earth. The drainage matting allows water to flow to the sump pump. The vapor barrier protects the crawl space and home from any moisture collecting in the sump pump. They closed off any outside air, from vents or any other opening, to keep the outside air from entering the crawl space. Finally, they placed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier in the crawl space to dry any moisture from the air.
