Wet Crawl Space in DFW
Challenge
After a heavy rain, a homeowner noticed a damp smell and high humidity in their home. They called our team to help.
Solution
Upon inspection, our specialist discovered a very wet and muddy crawl space with high humidity readings. The first thing we needed to do was remove the water and dry the area beneath the home. We installed a dehumidifier and two blower fans to pull air through the crawl space and assist in the drying process.
Once the area was dry, we installed a SmartSump pump system with liner, cast iron pump, CleanPump Stand, airtight lid with airtight floor drain and WaterWatch alarm system. Removing all miscellaneous debris from the crawl space, we ensured the ground was even for proper moisture flow. A CleanSpace drainage matting was place under a 6-mil vapor barrier to facilitate moisture flow to the sump pump, keeping the vapor barrier off the ground and providing additional insulation. Two wireless sensors which send constant temperature and humidity readings to a digital display inside the house were installed. A Santa Fe dehumidifier was installed to assure the humidity in the crawl space was controlled.
Once completed, the crawl space moisture problem was solved.
