Crawl Space Moisture Control in Fort Worth, Texas
Challenge
The crawl space beneath this home was completely damp with standing pools of water on the ground and moisture collected on the pipes and wooden beams. These Fort Worth owners were dealing with concerns about the potential dangers of mold growth and structural issues that might occur. They knew something needed to be done so they called our team to investigate.
Solution
The first thing we needed to do was remove the water and dry the area beneath the home. We installed a dehumidifier in the master closet and ran a drainage line nearby. Two blower fans were used outside the vents to pull air throw the crawl space and assist in the drying process.
Once the area was dry, we installed a SmartSump pump system with liner, cast iron pump, CleanPump Stand, airtight lid with airtight floor drain and WaterWatch alarm system. Removing all miscellaneous debris from the crawl space including leftover construction material, we ensured the ground was even for proper moisture flow. A CleanSpace drainage
matting was place under a 6-mil vapor barrier to facilitate moisture flow to the sump pump, keeping the vapor barrier off the ground and providing additional insulation. Next, we regraded the ground in the crawl space to for proper slope and drainage to direct water seepage to the sump pump. Two wireless sensors which send constant temperature and
humidity readings to a digital display inside the house were installed and we sealed the vents from inside to assure the crawl space was fully enclosed for the encapsulation system. A Santa Fe dehumidifier was installed to assure the humidity in the crawl space was controlled.
Once completed, the crawl space moisture problem was solved and the owners were able to put their concerns to rest.
