Musty Odors from Crawl Space in Dallas, TX
Challenge
This homeowner called and stated that there were musty odors in her home, and she was concerned that it may have been coming from the crawl space. She wanted to have someone come look at the crawl space to see if there was any moisture issues. We sent a System Deisgns Specialist to her home from a free estimate. During the crawl space assessment, he found evidence of moisture issues that could lead to musty odors, mold growth, buckling floors, and many more problems. He presented the homeowner a solution to fixing the wet crawl space. The homeowner accepted and proceeded with a crawl space repair and encapsulation from Olympic Restoration Systems.
Solution
The production team started by removing debris from the crawl space and regrading the soil. Next, they placed a SmartSump to drain water away from the crawl space. Next, they placed drainage matting underneath a CleanSpace vapor barrier on the crawl space floor to isolate the home from the earth. Finally, they placed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier in the crawl space to dry any moisture from the air.
