Water Pooling under home in Dallas, TX
Challenge
The Homeowner had noticed water gathering and pooling in the crawl space, creating moisture and humidity issues, which can promote the growth of mold and cause much larger structural problems. After reading up on Crawl Space Encapsulation via our website, they decided to contact us for a free appointment.
Solution
At the appointment, our team found extremely high humidity readings in the uninsulated crawl space, as well as condensation forming on the subfloor. After discussing this with the customer, we agreed to encapsulate the crawl space, creating a barrier between the home and the dirt floor, eliminating excess moisture and air flow from rising into the home.
First, our team regraded the crawl space to direct drainage to a sump pump system. We then installed an EZ flow pipe around the perimeter of the crawl space to capture incoming water and direct it to the sump pump. We installed a SmartSump Pump System with Liner, Cast Iron Pump, CleanPump Stand, airtight lid with airtight floor drain and WaterWatch Alarm System. CleanSpace Drainage Matting and a CleanSpace Vapor Barrier were placed along the ground, walls, and piers. A dehumidifier was also brought in to assure the humidity did not get too high again, and two wireless sensors were fastened to send temperature and humidity readings to a small panel inside the house.
