Crawl Space Mold Prevention
Challenge
A homeowner noticed a musty smell in their home which seemed to be coming from the crawl space. The team at Olympic Restoration Systems was called in to help. After accessing the situation, our team not only recorded excessive humidity in the crawl space, but found that mold was present.
Solution
Our team began by removing the mold. All the wood within the crawl space was cleaned with an EPA registered antimicrobial solution. Debris was removed and the crawl space was regraded to direct water seepage into a sump pump system. Next, we installed a SmartSump pump system with liner, cast iron pump, CleanPump Stand, airtight lid with airtight floor drain and WaterWatch alarm system. Another small pump was installed to move the water from the dehumidifier to the sump pump. To keep the ground moisture and vapor from affecting the home, we used CleanSpace Drainage Matting under a CleanSpace liner. Additionally, two wireless sensors were installed to send temperature and humidity readings to a small panel inside the house. This customer could rest easy knowing that their home was restored to a safe and comfortable level.
